In early 2006 Tamako and Per Lyngemark – both dedicated pet lovers – had the idea of starting an online platform for pet lovers where they could meet like-minded people all over the world. They wanted to create something fresh and innovative: the idea of Petizens was born.
In Per and Tamakos vision the pets would be the center of the network, not their owners. And besides the exchange of information and making new (pet) friends, users should have a fun time designing individual web pages for their pets. As a result of this vision the Petizens page as we know it today is an interactive pet network with creative users designing amazing pages for their pets.
After the first version of www.petizens.com went beta in 2008 the dream was becoming reality and without any promotion the online community began to grow.
By the end of 2009 Petizens received an investment from DaD Asia and as a result user numbers began to explode. Within a few months the small online community grew to a huge network of 40,000 users and is still experiencing a rapid growth.
Today Petizens has its headquarters in Shanghai, China, were a committed team of six works hard on maintaining the website and strives to give users an amazing experience on Petizens.
